As far as I can remember...
Social Network
Great subject matter. Of course, everyone knows facebook, only a few know its roots. Some know what it becomes, only a few knew what it could be.
People are shocked to realize that it all comes down to data, information, products. Personally, as shocked as I was, I feel like it was naive on my part to not have seen it coming. Surely everything comes down to that. How could we have expected a saint disguised as a computer geek?
Who cares what you eat each meal, places you are at a certain time, or what's in your mind???
In summary, it was a good, compelling story about people who do the right thing at exactly the right time. Life is all about timing.
Red
A mindless action film that let me escape from the chaos of my life. I appreciate it for what it is. Pure entertainment. Gotta love good ol' Bruce still rocking those guns, and the always elegant Ms. Mirren. I have a thing for lady who kicks ass.
Crazy Heart
I've recently become a fan of Jeff Bridges. Once again, he didn't let me down in Crazy Heart. Now I know what the fuss was all about. Bridges plays a wash-up country star whose only gigs are bowling alley and small local bars. When he meets Jean, a single mom of an adorable five year-old, he realizes it is time to turn his life around.
It is inspiring how one person, and one event, no matter how small or insignificant, can change everything.
The soundtrack/theme song is amazing. It brings to tears. Exactly my kind of country music.
Touch of Evil/North by NorthWest/Full Metal Jacket
Strange how all these classics start making sense now that I know more about films. Years ago sitting in class, technics and theories seemed so irrelevant. I realize now how little I appreciated films as art and amazing work of collaboration.
I guess it takes time to see certain things. As well as many others in life, maturity comes into play. Looking back to the arrogant twenty-year-old, I was so naive thinking I understood all about life, happiness and suffering. How I was wrong!
The classics... they are so much more than meet the eyes.
